- About the Orange County Flood Control Division
(this section) - Here you will find an overview of the Division's
organizational structure, function, goals, accomplishments and contacts.
- Santa
Ana River Project - The Santa Ana River Mainstem Project
(SARP) was authorized by Congress in 1986 in order to provide flood
protection to the growing urban communities in Orange, Riverside
and San Bernardino Counties. In this section you will find a historical
account of flooding in the Santa Ana River drainage area and an
overview of the County's largest public works project including major
features such as the Seven Oaks Dam, Prado Dam, the Lower Santa Ana
River and Project implementation.
- Neighborhood Flood Control - Do
you live in a Flood Zone? Here we will provide you several ways to determine
if you live in a Flood Zone, provide information about the National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP) and explain how to interpret the terms and symbols
found in a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate
Map (FIRM) .
You will learn about the process the Flood Control Division, on behalf
of the Orange County Flood Control District (OCFCD), has established to
program and construct flood control improvements in your neighborhood. You
can also learn about the Capital Improvement Program, current and recently
completed flood control construction projects and water quality projects.
- Flood
Safety and Education - This section provides information
on what you can do to protect your property and family before,
during, and after a flood. You can also find a list of Emergency
Information telephone numbers that you
can call if you see alarming conditions in a flood control facility.
We also provided Flood Watch Links that can link you to weather-related
sites including local weather radar images, flood warnings, the
National Weather Service, and Orange County rainfall data.
