Projects may include preliminary engineering (project reports), final design and
plan preparation, construction, and/or acquisition of right-of-way.
- Facility Classification
- Regional Facilities
In general:
- are designed for 100-year frequency flood protection;
- have a drainage area greater than 1,000 acres;
- have a cross-sectional area greater than 50 square feet;
- have a main-line designation (e.g., A01, F05);
- are owned and maintained by Orange County Flood Control District (OCFCD).
- Subregional Facilities
In general:
- are designed for 100-year frequency flood protection;
- have a drainage area between 640 and 1,000 acres;
- have a cross-sectional area less than 50 square feet;
- have a tributary designation (e.g., F06S03, E01S01);
- must be owned and maintained by OCFCD.
- Local facilities are not eligible for funding.
- Project Priorities

- Relieve existing flooding problem which has caused private property damage and/or
threatened lives
- Remove obstruction/relieve inadequate channel capacity which has high potential
for private property damage
- Remedy high maintenance condition
- Close improvement gaps within existing facilities
- Relieve street flooding or other nuisance flooding as a result of a channel deficiency
- Local agency funding participation
- Approved project report exist
- Completed plans and specifications exist
